Members of the public who want to find out more about how they can get involved or become members of District Emergency Organisations (DEOs) may do so tomorrow, Saturday, November 21.

The DEOs, which represent the volunteer arm of the Department of Emergency Management, will host a Public Awareness Day and Volunteer Drive, with the setting up of informational booths at various locations across the island.

Persons will also be able to learn more about the DEOs’ function and role in their community when they visit these booths.

In St. Peter, the booths will be located at the Barbados Lumber Company, Speightstown; Junction Hardware in Mile-and-A-Quarter; and Jordans Supermarket in Speightstown. They will also be at the Esso Gas Station, Paynes Bay, and Jordans Supermarket, Fitts Village, both in St. James.

DEO members will also be stationed at Carlton and A1 Supermarket in Black Rock; Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall; and Howard’s Supermarket, Bush Hall, all in St. Michael; and the Market Hill Supermarket in Market Hill, St. George.

Persons residing in St. Philip will have an opportunity to learn more by visiting the Emerald City Supermarket in Six Roads, St. Philip and Popular Discounts in Kendal Hill, Christ Church.

All booths will open from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The DEM invites members of the public to visit the location most convenient to them.
