The Ministry of the Civil Service and Digicel (Barbados) Limited will sign a contract tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5, for the implementation of Government???s Wide Area Network (WAN).

It will take place in the main conference room of the Ministry of Civil Service, E. Humphrey Walcott Building, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Allyson Forte, will initial on behalf of Government, while General Manager, Martin Keogh, will sign for Digicel (Barbados) Limited.

The WAN was conceptualised to serve as a key infrastructural element and a catalyst for government to aggressively implement its proposed e-Government programmes. It will provide consolidated, controlled and secure Internet access to the public sector.

To date, 30 sites are connected to the WAN.
