The St. Andrew Parish Independence Committee will launch its Business Directory and Apprentice Scheme on Saturday, November 15, at The Alleyne School, Belleplaine, St. Andrew, at 3:30 p.m.

Residents of that parish, particularly farmers, unemployed youth and those interested in starting a business, are encouraged to attend.

Business Development Officer of the Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT), Shauna Marshall, will give the feature address.

Representatives from the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme, the BYBT and the Rural Development Commission will be on location to provide information and business advice.

According to Event Coordinator, George Beckles, the directory offers a comprehensive list of contact details for businesses and self-employed persons, such as masons and electricians, from the district.

Mr. Beckles also explained that the soon-to-be launched Apprentice Scheme was designed to pair youth with St. Andrew businesses, so that young residents could gain work experience and ultimately reduce the unemployment levels in the parish.

Further information may be obtained by contacting the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat at 621-2700, or Diana Jordan at 234-3152.
