The St. Michael Parish Independence Committee (PIC) will host a town hall meeting on disaster preparedness on Sunday, June 10, at the St. Michael School Hall, Martindales Road, St. Michael, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

According to the St. Michael PIC, the purpose of the town hall meeting is to discuss the importance of properly preparing for potentially dangerous natural occurrences and the appropriate responses in the aftermath of such disasters.

Among the topics to be covered are: Emergency Preparedness for a Tropical Weather System; and Coastal Zone Management in Disaster Risk Reduction.

Deputy Director of the Department of Emergency Management, Captain Robert Harewood and David Griffith from the Barbados Red Cross are among the speakers expected to deliver presentations at the town hall meeting.
