Primary schools will be ???well on their way??? to learning about the Commonwealth, when they each receive a copy of the Commonwealth Exercise Book from the Barbados Branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society, next week.

The ceremony for the distribution of the books will be held at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed, on Tuesday, November 18, at 10.00 a.m.

Principals, as well as two students from these institutions, will receive the exercise books in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.

Parliamentary Secretary, Senator Harry Husbands, as well as Chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society Barbados Branch, Dame Maizie Barker-Welch, will address the brief ceremony.

Also in attendance will be the High Commissioners of the British and Canadian Embassies; Madame Justice Sandra Mason; and Major Louis Belle, the representative for the sponsor of the printing of the exercise books, Sir Kyffin and Lady Simpson.

The Commonwealth Exercise Book Scheme is designed to provide each child attending a public or private, primary or secondary school in Barbados, with a free copy of the book.

The book contains excerpts from the Commonwealth Charter, the words to the Barbados National Pledge and the National Anthem, multiplication tables as well as a poem that aids children in remembering the months of the year.
