Householders living in all districts which fall within the Oistins, Christ Church; Boarded Hall, St. George and Brereton and Six Roads, St. Philip boundaries are being cautioned that they too must also comply with the Grantley Adams International Airport’s kite flying restrictions.

According to Director of Civil Aviation, Anthony Archer, some householders are mistakenly of the view that the restriction extends only to the boundary districts. He stressed, however, that the external three-mile or five-kilometre radius includes all districts within that loop, especially those within the approach and departure path of aircrafts.

Among the Christ Church prohibited districts are: Silver Hill; Gall Hill; Kingsland; Wotton; Maxwell; Cane Vale; Newton; Scarborough; Pegwell; Gibbons; and Gibbons Boggs; Thornbury Hill; Silver Sands; Ealing Park; Wilcox; Lowlands; Coverley; Charnocks; Pilgrim Road; Fairy Valley; Durants; Callenders; Chancery Lane; Parish Land and  Lead Vale.

The affected St. Phillip districts include: Gemswick; Mangrove; Heddings; Foul Bay; Ocean City; Diamond Valley and Rock Hall.

“We always plead with persons, especially in this season, not to fly kites within that three-mile or five-kilometre radius since they pose a grave danger to low-flying aircraft,” he underlined.

The Civil Aviation official also stressed that, as usual, the department would be seeking the assistance of the Royal Barbados Police Force to get perpetrators to remove kites flown within the restricted zone.
