Members of the public will have yet another opportunity to clarify any queries they might have about the upcoming changes to the Barbados Drug Service (BDS) at a quarterly public lecture tomorrow, Tuesday, March 15.

It will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, starting at 7:00 p.m. and the topic is the Re-introduction of the Dispensing Fee and the Revised Formulary – How it affects you.??

Panellists are: Chairperson of the Drug Formulary Committee (DFC), Dr. Colette George; Director of the BDS, Maryam Hinds; Project Team Leader, Cheryl Yearwood; member of the DFC, Dr. Cindy Flower and Clinical Pharmacologist at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Kenneth Connell.??

After the lecture, bus transportation will be provided to the Fairchild Street and the Princess Alice Bus Terminals.

The April 1 changes, announced by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs in the 2010 Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals, were designed to address rising expenditure over the years which has steadily increased since the Service’s inception in 1981.?? ??The aim is to curb wastage within the system and to ensure sustainability of the BDS for citizens and permanent residents of Barbados.
