Public and private sector physicians are invited to the first of three stakeholder meetings being hosted by the Barbados Drug Service (BDS) this Friday, February 11, to discuss the upcoming changes to the drug formulary and the reintroduction of the dispensing fee in private pharmacies.

The closed-door meeting will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) at 7:00 p.m. and panellists will include Chairperson of the Drug Formulary Committee, Dr. Collette George, who will give a review of the Formulary and Project Team Leader, Cheryl Yearwood, who will speak on the dispensing fee.

Also sitting on the panel will be Director of the BDS, Maryam Hinds, Clinical Pharmacologist at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Kenneth Connell and Dr. Cindy Flower, a member of the Drug Formulary Committee.

The stakeholder meetings will continue on Wednesday, February 16, when pharmacists and pharmacy owners meet with the Ministry of Health. ??Members of the public will also have an opportunity raise their concerns when the BDS hosts its quarterly public lecture which will take the form of a panel discussion on Tuesday, March 15.

All three meetings will be held at the LESC, starting at 7:00 p.m.????
