The Earl and Countess of Wessex completed another engagement as part of their State Visit to Barbados today, with a visit to the historic Kensington Oval.

There, the Earl unveiled a plaque in the presence of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and National Hero, the Rt. Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers, OCC.??

With the statue of Sir Garry as a backdrop, the Royal Couple were entertained with a dramatic performance by Rickardo Reid of the Alexandra School and Marc-Ari Weekes of Harrison College. The renowned St. Leonard’s Boys’ Choir also delighted the Royal Couple with a piece entitled ???Miss Mattie’.

Prior to leaving, The Earl and Countess interacted with school children from The St. Michael School and St. Mary’s Primary, among others.??

The State Visit to Barbados is part of celebrations by Commonwealth nations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex will also visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Grenada and Montserrat as part of official events to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.??
