Members of the public are invited to an East Coast Bus tour on Sunday, March 10, at 3:30 p.m. beginning at Martin’s Bay, St. John.

Two Transport Board buses will take passengers from Martin’s Bay, along the coast to Long Pond, before moving onto Chalky Mount and Consett Bay on the return trip. The tour is aimed at highlighting some of the island’s coastal features, potential coastal hazards, vulnerabilities and challenges posed by the Scotland District.

Participants are encouraged to wear something blue to raise awareness about the island’s coastlines. They are also urged to wear comfortable shoes.

Tickets will be available from the Barbados Government Information Service from Tuesday, March 5 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. All those interested in attending are urged to get their tickets early as there are only 80 spaces available.

The bus tour is being organised by the Public Awareness and Education working group of the Technical Standing Committee on Coastal Hazards (TSCCH), as part of the ongoing effort to raise awareness about the island’s vulnerabilities. The TSCCH was established following a Cabinet decision.
