Government’s economic programme will be set out in clear detail next Monday, March 1, when the Ministry of Finance hosts a Public/Private Sector Consultation on Economic and Related Issues.????????????????????????

The event, a precursor to the March 9 Estimates Debate, will be chaired by John Williams of the Barbados Private Sector Association. It will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will also be broadcast live on Channel 8 of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation.

Following a 40-minute address by Prime Minister David Thompson, there will be a presentation by new Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, Dr. Delisle Worrell, on Economic Policy and Development. In addition, Financial Consultant to the Government of Barbados, Geoffrey Bell will address the topic: "The World Economy: What Next?"??????

There will be two presentations on The Response to Government’s Strategy, which will be made by President of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados, Senator Sir Roy Trotman and Ben Arrindell of the Barbados Private Sector Association.

Each presentation will be followed by a question/discussion session, while a full plenary discussion takes place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. During the last thirty minutes of the consultation, Prime Minister Thompson will give a summary and present the way forward.??gapplewhaite@barbados.gov.bb
