Minister of Education and Human Resource Development, Ronald Jones, turned his attention to schools in the north of the island yesterday, as he continued his tour of this country’s primary and secondary schools.

Yesterday’s tour saw the Minister visiting Ignatius Byer, St. Lucy, Selah and Half Moon Fort Primary Schools. During his pep talk to a number of Class 4 students, preparing to sit the Common Entrance Examination, he advised them to see the day as “any other day”.

“You have nothing to be afraid of, just go and do your best,” he said. Mr. Jones also urged students not to place too much emphasis on the school to which they are allocated. “Strive for excellence …It does not natter where you go… aim to make a difference,” he stressed.

The former teacher was greeted with great enthusiasm on arrival at the schools, with some students putting on dance and musical presentations. Minister Jones commended the pupils on their skills and creativity, noting that they “have great talent.  Always make use of your talents,” he pointed out.
