Barbados will be represented at the Regional Literacy and CONFINTEA VI Preparatory Conference in Latin America and the Caribbean being held in Mexico from tomorrow, Wednesday, September 10, until Saturday, September 13.

Minister of Education and Human Resource Development, Ronald Jones, and Coordinator of the National Reading Programme, Patricia Sol, will attend the conference, entitled “From Literacy to Lifelong Learning: Towards the Challenges of the 21st Century.” The four-day conference will cover several pertinent topics, including Trends and Challenges in Literacy and Youth and Adult Education in Latin America and the Caribbean; Policies, Strategies, Financing, Monitoring and Evaluation of Literacy and Youth and Adult Education; as well as Future Strategies, Recommendations and Benchmarks in Literacy and Youth and Adult Education.
