Government will soon provide financial assistance to eight non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to aid in the implementation of their various projects.
Come Wednesday, May 27, these NGOs will receive cheques totalling approximately BDS $500,000, from the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment, Urban and Rural Development.??
According to an official of the Ministry: ???The assistance comes as part of Government???s thrust to strengthen partnerships with civil society, since it is recognised that Government cannot deal with certain issues on its own.???
She added: ???Although these NGOs get additional sourcing from other agencies, Government is aware that the work they do contributes to the overall development of society and also aids in poverty reduction.???
The presentations will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in the Conference Room, on the second floor, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael.?? Minister Christopher Sinckler will also be in attendance.
