According to the National Assistance Board (NAB) acting senior welfare officer, Mr. James Cummins, to date their petition signing campaign against elderly abuse and neglect across Barbados has over 2, 400 signatures.

During this month, the NAB in celebrating senior citizens month, embarked on this major initiative, to sensitive the public and enlist their support on this important issue. 

So far, the campaign has been taken to Super Centre, Warrens; Sheraton Centre, Food Court; Heroes Square; and The University of the West Indies.  

This Monday, October 1, International Day of the Elderly, the campaign will continue its quest at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, and Mr. Cummins said, “The campaign’s next target group is the Church.

The NAB is asking Barbadians to come out and support this worth well endeavour, which upon completion, will be presented to the Ministries of Health and Social Transformation for legal framework.
