There is a wealth of talent at The Ellerslie School. This was evident from the range of businesses which were on display at today’s extravaganza at the Black Rock, St. Michael School.

Visitors got to see the business acumen of students in the areas of make-up artistry, nail and henna art, face painting, hairdressing, jewellery, culinary arts and pastries.  Others showed off talents such as bodybuilding, drumming and singing.

The extravaganza was an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and to market and sell their work/products. Teachers used the event to assess the business capacity of students.

Members of the public, including local businessman, Ralph “Bizzy” Williams, visited the school to observe the exhibits and purchase some of the products on display. He chatted with a few of the budding young entrepreneurs and said he was impressed by what he saw.

“[I am here because] I care about the future of Barbados and these children here are the future.  I saw a young lady here doing make-up and I spoke to her because my wife runs a store that sells beauty products.  I like what I am seeing, particularly the wedding cakes.  I just said I would come and talk with them and encourage them,” he said.

Other exhibitors included parents and teachers, as well as Olympian Akela Jones. She showed her enterprising side by marketing her jewellery business Edged X Echelon.

The extravaganza ran from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
