The Government of Barbados will recognise the contribution to sport of another outstanding Barbadian Sportsman.?? He is Emmerson Boyce, Captain of Wigan Athletic – the team that won the 2013 FA Cup.

And, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, will officially welcomed home the international Barbadian footballer this afternoon at the airport and will host a reception in his honour at the Hilton Barbados, tomorrow, Friday, June 21, at 5:30 p.m.

Mr. Boyce, who was born in England to Barbadian parents, will be on the island to launch his foundation for less fortunate children.?? Currently, he owns the franchise for Bajan Elite, a local football team.

On Monday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Boyce will watch Bajan Elite compete against another team at Kensington Oval.??

The match, which is organised by the Barbados Tourism Authority, will also include a meet and greet session with the international footballer.?? Fans will have the opportunity to receive autographs and give-away items.

Mr. Boyce started his career at 19 years old, but made his international debut at the age of 28.

His team, Wigan Athletic, beat Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup.??
