Barbadian businesses have been encouraged to utilise the services of the National Employment Bureau (NEB) when seeking to recruit new workers.

Minister of Labour and Social Security, Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, made this appeal when she spoke to the press yesterday about the temporary relocation of the NEB from its office on Fairchild Street to the Labour Department on 2nd Floor, Warrens Office Complex in Warrens, St. Michael

"We do have a lot of Barbadians who go to the NEB and register for local employment, but we need employers to know that this is an employment agency as well…?? I am not saying you shouldn’t use your other channels [such as] classified ads and so on, but the NEB is here for just that purpose," the Labour Minister said

Dr. Byer Suckoo called on the business community to take advantage of that service and urged local employers to sign up.

She also stated that individuals who registered for local recruitment with the NEB could benefit from other services provided by the NEB, such as career counselling, resume assistance, and research and internet access.
