Twenty-one young people who successfully completed the pilot phase of Endless Possibilities-A Job Attachment and Mentorship programme will graduate this weekend.

Minister of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, will deliver the feature address during the graduation ceremony on Saturday, March 24, at the Savannah Hotel, Hastings Christ Church.

This five-month programme was designed by the Division of Family as one of the social interventions/strategies to counteract crime and deviancy in the society. It targeted at risk, unattached youth between the ages of 16 and 24 and offered them pertinent life skills, work experience, mentoring and counselling.

Senior Administrative Officer in the Division of Family, Marva Howell, explained that 30 young people were registered at the start of the orientation phase last November 1, and they completed the four-week training exercise, which laid the foundation for transitioning to the work environment.

Ms. Howell said: "The young people were drawn from all across Barbados, and were selected by either the Youth Commissioners within the Ministry, or from participating in some of our youth programmes."

According to her, the young people were assigned to 22 organisations in the private and public sectors for three months and several of them have secured long-term employment.
