The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources will celebrate Energy Month this November under the theme: Executing the Energy Revolution in Barbados.

The Ministry’s month of activities include a church service on Sunday, November 4, at the Providence Methodist Church; 20/20-night cricket competition between staff of the Ministry and its stakeholders on November 15 and 22; an energy fun walk on November 18, concluding with a grand Energy Expo at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) on November 24.

In order to create awareness of renewable energy and energy efficient practices in younger children, the Ministry will also coordinate two competitions for Energy Month: a colouring competition for children ages five to seven, and an essay competition for children eight to 11.

Children competing in the essay competition have the option of writing on two topics: Discuss How Renewable Energy Impacts Our Environment and Discuss How You Would Utilize Energy Efficiency Practices In Your Home.

The picture to be coloured and the essay writing paper may be downloaded from the Ministry’s website or may be collected from its office, Trinity Business Centre Complex, Country Road, St. Michael. The deadline for submission of entries is Monday, November 19.

Winners of both competitions will be awarded their prizes at the Energy Expo on Saturday, November 24, at the LESC.  For further information on the competitions, persons may contact Claire Best at 535-2545, or by email at cbest@energy.gov.bb, or Jamal Gill at 535-2547 or at jgill@energy.gov.bb.
