The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC), is placing greater emphasis on the development of the local craft sector; a move that should lead to more employment opportunities.

To this end, the BIDC’s Craft Development Unit will conduct new courses in wood work, wood carving and sculpture and wood turning (lathe work) next month, for persons who want to learn a new skill.

Participants will be instructed in the basic craft methods using Barbadian mahogany.??They will be taught how to make wall plaques, jewellery boxes, magazine racks and masks.

Classes will be held from Monday, June 7 to Thursday, July 15, at Unit 2B, Building No. 2, Pelican Industrial Estate, Princess Alice Highway, St. Michael.
