(Barbados Investment and Development Corporation)

Barbadian entrepreneurs with innovative businesses have been encouraged to enter the 2018 Race for Space Competition.

The annual contest is hosted by the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC).  It seeks to reward the best innovative process, product or service with resources to accelerate their businesses.

Entrants will have the chance to win one year of free operating space in the BIDC’s Incubator Facility; website development, social media advertising, product development, mentorship with a leading industry specialist and complimentary entrance to the BIDC’s Innovate Barbados Conference, slated for November 7 and 8.

Now in its third year, Innovate Barbados has become a hot spot for creative problem solving and a gateway through which innovative solutions are engineered for a smart and sustainable future.  This year, the conference is being held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, under the theme: Engineering New Connections.

Businesses interested in entering the 2018 Race for Space Competition must be in operation for less than three years and have at least 51 per cent Barbadian ownership. They will be required to submit their “big idea”, business details and an application form to the BIDC Head Office, Pelican House, Princess Alice Highway, St. Michael, by Friday, September 14. Alternately, applications may be submitted online to bidc@bidc.org by Sunday, September 16.

Interested persons may download application forms online at www.innovatebarbados.com/raceforspace. Persons may also visit the website for more information or email their queries to bidc@bidc.org or jclarke@bidc.org.
