In keeping with its mission to add value to national discourse on environmental management, the Barbados Institute of Environmental Professionals (BIEP), in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, will be hosting a series of public lectures to mark Environment Month.

They will be held at the Barbados Museum Courtyard, every Wednesday during the month, beginning tomorrow, June 3, from 7:00 to 10:00 nightly.

???Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Small Island Perspectives’ will be the topic for tomorrow evening’s inaugural lecture, which will be delivered by Mr. Leslie Walling, Coordinator for Canada Caribbean Disaster Risk Management Fund, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA).

On Wednesday, June 10, Dr. Gillian Cambers, Disaster Risk Management Specialist, Project Services Division, Caribbean Development Bank will take the spotlight when she delivers a lecture on the topic: ???Climate Change, Lifestyles and Livelihoods’.

The series will continue on Wednesday, June 17, with a lecture on the topic: ???Improving Environmental Performance in a Green Economy: Lessons for Business and Industry’. It will be delivered by Ms. Penny Slight, Manager, Eco- Efficiency Centre, Dalhousie University Centre, Halifax Canada.

The curtain will come down on the lecture series on Wednesday, June 24, when Director, National Council of?? Science & Technology, Ministry of Trade, Industry & Commerce, Lennox Chandler, delivers the final lecture on the topic : ???Living Sustainably: Climate Change and Insect Populations’.

The BIEP seeks to maintain the highest standards of practice among environmental professionals; promote individual and corporate accountability for the environment; and provide a forum for the discussion and resolution of environmental issues.
