Government’s Environmental Division is moving to ensure that local refrigeration technicians acquire the necessary expertise in ‘Reclamation and Reuse Procedures’.

To this end, it will be hosting a training workshop for these technicians before year-end, as part of its long term project to recycle refrigerant gases.

This disclosure has come from Project Manager in the Ministry of the Environment, Ricardo Ward, who explained that the training will include the provision of equipment to those technicians in the sector, who are members of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association of Barbados.

He added that “over the longer term, this will result in the development of a domestic capacity to recycle refrigerant gases, as well as aid us with the monitoring, and reduction, of our importation levels of gases”.
