The much talked about Environmental Management Act will soon come on stream.

That’s the word from Minister of Environment, Dr. Denis Lowe, who said the Ministry had drafted the "sweeping piece of legislation" which was making its way through the various channels of government. He stressed that the Act "is very critical" to his Ministry achieving some of its goals.

Dr. Lowe promised that his Ministry would ensure the regulations were enforced. "There are lots of pieces of legislation in place that are poorly policed. Legislation itself has no greater energy than a strategic plan, unless we are prepared to enforce it," he maintained. saustin@barbados.gov.bb
