Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sen. Maxine McClean, chats with out-going Canadian High Commissioner, David Marshall, during a recent courtesy call.

Out-going Canadian and Brazilian envoys today bade farewell to Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Maxine McClean.

High Commissioner of Canada, David Marshall, stated that his experience was a great one, during which he had learnt a lot about the region. He suggested that medical tourism would be beneficial to Barbados and CARICOM, and should be pursued with much alacrity. This is a matter in which Canada is interested.

Senator McClean said medical tourism was an area Barbados was willing to get involved in and this suggestion would be passed on to her Tourism counterpart.

Brazilian Ambassador, Orlando Galveas Oliviera, also expressed satisfaction about his tenure and what had been achieved, but lamented that he had been unable to facilitate direct transportation between the two countries. He said, if this had been accomplished, a greater relationship could have been developed in tourism and commerce.??

Minister McClean agreed that Barbados "should give some priority and urgency to" this area.
