Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Christopher Sinckler

CARIFORUM Foreign Ministers and members of the European Community will convene at the Sherbourne Conference Centre, tomorrow, Wednesday, October 15, to sign the historic Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

Among the dignitaries will be St. Lucia’s Prime Minister, Stephenson King, who will sign on his country’s behalf.

The ceremony will comprise cultural presentations as well as addresses by Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Donville Inniss; Secretary General of CARICOM, Edwin Carrington; and Ambassador of France to CARICOM, Jean Paul Dumont.   Barbados’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Christopher Sinckler, will be the main speaker.

The EPA covers trade in goods, services and investments, and provides for development assistance to CARIFORUM countries.  Under the proposed reciprocal pact, these countries will have access to markets in the European Union (EU) and will also enjoy the duty-free right of entry to EU member-countries.
