The eradication of poverty will come into focus this weekend when a number of activities are staged in observance of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, this Saturday, October 17.

On the day, the Office of the Advisor on Poverty Eradication will hold a Community Market at the Blenheim Pasture and Community Centre, The Ivy, St. Michael from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Residents and other members of the public will have the opportunity to have blood sugar and blood pressure checks, and agencies related to housing, domestic violence, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS will also be promoting and sharing information on these matters.??????

In addition, entrepreneurs from the area will exhibit and have available for sale a variety of arts and crafts, and there will be entertainment throughout the day, including face painting, clowns and puppetry for the children, as well as a performance by the band Fully Loaded.

The events will culminate on Sunday, October 18, with a church service at the Mount of Praise Wesleyan Holiness Church, Tudor Bridge, St. Michael, beginning at 9:45 a.m.
