Update: Erdiston Graduation Postponed Until Saturday, August 1

Two hundred and sixteen newly qualified teachers will graduate from the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College (ETTC) on Saturday, July 25, during a virtual ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

They will be graduating from the six programmes for the 2018-2019 year: In-service Certificate in Physical Education; Vocational Teachers’ Training Programme in Adult Education; Bachelor of Education Degree Primary; Diploma in Education Primary; Post Graduate Diploma in Education Secondary; and the Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership.

The College decided to hold a virtual graduation ceremony in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be held under the theme: Erdiston College: Crafting a New Vision for Teacher Education.

This year’s valedictorian is Kelly-Ann Barrett, who completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership. However, other outstanding students in the various programmes will also be acknowledged.

They are Shanna Johnson – Diploma in Education Primary; Jonquil Gollop – Post Graduate Diploma in Education Secondary; Keisha Collymore – Bachelor of Education Primary Programme; Shirley Bovell – Vocational Teachers’ Training Programme in Adult Education; and Althea Belgrave, who completed the In-service Certificate in Physical Education.

The feature address will be delivered by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, while Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Santia Bradshaw, will deliver an exhortation to the graduates, and Principal of the College, Dr. Patricia Saul, will speak on the theme Crafting a New Vision for Teacher Education.  

All students, their guests, and guests of the College will be able to access the virtual graduation via the College’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
