Excellence will be the focus for workers, employers and Government, when the annual Week of Excellence Programme is observed from Sunday, February 21, to Saturday, February 27.

It will be held under the theme: Continuing the Transition: Growing and Sustaining Tomorrow???s Leaders.

However, the activities will begin on Saturday, February 20, with an initiative in St. Peter entitled: Taking Excellence to the Streets, which is aimed at sharing information on how to develop personal excellence with Barbadian workers.

Later in the day, there will be an exhibition and health fair at the Speightstown Esplanade, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and a ???Q??? In The Community programme from 1:00 p.m.

A service will be held on Sunday at the Wesleyan Holiness Church, Whitepark Road, Bridgetown, commencing at 8:00 a.m. Minister of Labour, Senator Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, will deliver remarks during the service.

On Monday, February 22, at 7:00 p.m., the inaugural 50th Anniversary Leadership Lecture entitled: Excellence In Leadership, will be presented by President and CEO of the Washington Consulting Team and former Assistant Secretary of the US Department of Transportation, Linda Jacobs Washington.??

It will be held at the Walcott-Warner Theatre, The Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. The public is invited.

During the week, several presentations and panel discussions will be held for public and private sector partners. The topics include: Strategies and Initiatives towards Shaping Our Future Leadership; Impact of Workplace Wellness on NCDs ??? Clinical Interpretation of Workplace Wellness Data; Productivity Best Practices; Safety and Health in the Workplace; and Identifying and Motivating the Best Talent for Leadership.

The Week of Excellence Programme was initiated in 2003. It emerged in response to the new market liberalisation and globalisation thrust, which increased the need for productivity-focused businesses and effective competitiveness strategies.

It seeks to increase productivity awareness and excellence across the various sectors, and give stakeholders an opportunity to participate in critical dialogue on those issues.

Its sponsors are the Barbados Workers??? Union, the Social Partnership, Office of Public Sector Reform, the Central Bank of Barbados, the Barbados Employers??? Confederation, the National Initiative for Service Excellence and The Productivity Council.
