Plans to celebrate Barbados??? 47th anniversary of independence are now in high gear and will culminate with the staging of the Ceremonial Parade on Saturday, November 30, at the Garrison Savannah.

The ceremony, which gets under way at 8:00 a.m., will feature displays by Barbados??? finest armed and unarmed units.

A highlight of this year???s parade will be a special display from the Barbados Landship to mark their 150th anniversary and a detachment from the visiting British Royal Navy frigate HMS Lancaster.

Other units on parade will include the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF), the Barbados Cadet Corps, the Barbados Boy Scouts Association, the St. John???s Ambulance Brigade, the Barbados Red Cross, the National Conservation Commission, the Barbados Fire Service, the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme, the Barbados Prison Service, Government Security Guards Service, the Barbados Landship Association, the Girl Guides Association and the Barbados Youth Service.

Detachments of the Barbados Legion and the Mounted Troupe of the Royal Barbados Police Force will be part of the ceremony, which will also feature the mass bands of the BDF, the Barbados Cadet Corps and the RBPF.

The parade will culminate with the ceremonial march to The City.
