Local businesses need to form strategic partnerships with their regional counterparts as an impetus to tapping into the opportunities that are available under the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Patrick Todd, reiterated this call on Thursday night, while addressing the official launch of Total Office Limited’s showroom at the company’s Warrens, St. Michael location.

Notwithstanding the opportunities for businesses under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, the Minister of State challenged business owners to export more goods throughout the region.

Mr. Todd said: "I urge the local business community to rise to the occasion and seek to get more of their products and services into foreign markets.?? So, the challenge to you is to redesign your products and services and to introduce cost cutting measures, thereby making them more competitive."

He lauded the principles of the company for introducing high-quality office solution products to the island and encouraged them to give back to the community. "I acknowledge that you are a new enterprise in Barbados and as such, I implore you to be a good corporate citizen by adopting a school or being involved in other initiatives, Mr. Todd added."

Managing Director of Total Office, Ryan Proudfoot, said the company’s aim was to "create a space that would inspire architects and designers in the lay-out of office spaces and homes".??jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
