Barbados’ Postal Service (BPS) has received top marks for its delivery of inbound express mail for the year 2010.
It has come in the form of Gold Level Certification among Express Mail Service Co-operatives world-wide.
According to an official of the local Post Office: "With an excellent record for in-bound delivery, Barbados was the only Caribbean nation to receive a Gold Award."
Other countries receiving gold were: Azerbaijan, Chile, Macao, Hong Kong, El Salvador, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Slovenia and Switzerland.
Recipients met strict criteria, which included: more than 95 per cent on-time delivery; prompt answering of telephone; use of item barcode; provision of an on-line tracking facility; and written proof of delivery.
To observe this achievement, Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, will deliver the feature address at the BPS appreciation ceremony on Monday, July 4, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Conference Room, 3rd Floor, General Post Office, Cheapside.
