This week, The All Saint’s Primary School in Mile and a Quarter, St. Peter, celebrates Family Week and several activities have been organised for students, parents, old scholars and the general public to enjoy.

The main objective of the week, according to National Technical Officer with the Schools’ Positive Behaviour Management Programme (SPBMP), Nicole Lynch, is to more effectively involve parents and the community in the school process and to allow students to share what they were learning.??????

On Tuesday, May 22, the National Cultural Foundation will stage a puppetry show for the infants at 10:00 a.m. and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. parents and old scholars will showcase their career choices.

The following day, Wednesday, May 23, is Culture Day and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each class will depict a different culture through dress, art and cuisine. Friday, May 25, a sports and games evening will be held under the theme Sports under the Lights at 6:00 p.m. ??Cricket, football, netball and volleyball matches will be contested on the playing field by parents, old scholars, teachers and students.??

The week will conclude on Saturday with a family social, designed to build relationships between parents, and teachers.?? It will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the school hall.

The SPBMP programme, adapted from the UNICEF initiated, Child-Friendly Schools Programme, aims to enhance the quality of education in Barbados by focusing on the development of the child in all aspects of life. A key component is the development of strong links between the home, school and community.????
