This Friday, June 19, is Farmers??? Market Day at the St. Giles??? Nursery School. It will run from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.??

A key aim is to sensitise parents, children and the community about the importance of eating healthily. Produce will be on sale from the school???s garden, as well as from past and present parents.

The Diabetes Association of Barbados will be on hand to conduct testing, and there will be opportunities to sample health drinks, such as smoothies and protein shakes, as well as delicacies like banana bread and carrot cake.

According to Principal Yvette Greenidge, ???it is one of the culmination activities of the school???. She said for the last two terms, the school had been concentrating on the theme Plants Around Us ??? Eat What We Grow, and this was the most fitting way to end the year.

Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society, James Paul, will address the event, while Ms. Greenidge will deliver welcome remarks.??Representatives of the Bellairs Research Institute and IICA, Sarah Firoavanti and Damien Hinds, respectively, will also speak at the event.
