Budding innovators, who want to learn more about the National Innovation Competition, are invited to attend the final two innovation workshops hosted by the National Council for Science and Technology, next week.
The sessions will be held on Wednesday, July 1, at the Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Roads, St. Philip and on Thursday, July 2, at the Lester Vaughan School, Cane Garden, St. Thomas.
Each meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature presentations from Buddie Miller, a regional innovator and motivational speaker, as well as resource persons from the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office, the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation and Fund Access.
Contestants in this year’s competition will vie for the top prize of $75,000, which will also be presented with the coveted Prime Minister’s Award for Innovation, while the second and third place finalists will receive cash prizes of $20, 000 and $10, 000, respectively.?? As part of the process, competitors will receive valuable information on compiling their business plans, marketing and presenting their products.
The National Innovation Competition, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Empowerment, Innovation, Trade, Industry and Commerce, is a catalyst for innovation in Barbados. Through this competition, Barbados would not only be able to take advantage of new opportunities, but also improve its competitiveness by increased growth, profit and market share of goods.
