The Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat’s (CICS) Parish Talent Zonal Shows has received a $17,600 sponsorship injection from the Barbados Shipping and Trading Group of Companies (BS&T).

Marketing Manager of Dacosta Mannings Inc. (DMI) Grace Chambers, handed over the cheque today to Minister of Community Development and Culture, Steven Blackett, at a presentation ceremony in his office at Government Headquarters, Bay Street.

In acceptance, he thanked DMI for supporting the CICS for the third year and urged them to continue the activities.

“I do hope that your coming on board would be done to BS&T’s financial benefit and that your Boards of Directors would see this reflected in your bottom line at the end of the financial year.”

Ms. Chambers said the BS&T companies – Super Centre, DMI and BS&T, would sponsor Parish Talent Zonal Shows in the Southern, Northern and Central districts of the island.

She described the gesture as BS&T’s way of giving back to the community.

“We are a community-minded organisation and we are looking forward to an exciting event.”

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Shirley Farnum, observed that public/private partnerships were vital to the country’s development.

“We look forward to promoting and sustaining all of these public/private sector partnerships because we believe that, by working together, we can improve the way of living for Barbadians,” she added.

The shows are free to the public and will begin from this coming Saturday, September, 3, at the Springer Memorial School for the Southern Zone, Saturday, September 20, at the Lester Vaughan Secondary School for the Central Zone; and Saturday, September 27, at the Coleridge and Parry School for the Northern Zone.

All shows will begin at 5:30 p.m.  (JW)
