Barbadians will soon be more familiar with matters of finance, willing to take risks and form themselves in groupings for investment purposes when the Financial Literacy Bureau’s (FLB) satellite clinics are rolled out across the island.

The official launch takes place on Sunday, October 25, at Queen’s College, Husbands, St. James, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Minister of Energy, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Kerrie Symmonds, will deliver the feature address, while Technical Advisor in the Ministry, David Simpson, will give an overview of the FLB.

Minister Symmonds said during a recent media sensitisation on the FLB, that the Ministry was cognisant of the need to help citizens understand how to manage debt wisely.

He said this was as a result of requests from small and micro business entrepreneurs, who approached the Ministry and received assistance to prevent them from falling into insolvency and bankruptcy, as a result of challenges associated with poor debt management.

The programme will be rolled out in community centres and schools across the island.
