After 38 years of dedicated service to the public sector, Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Marcia Cumberbatch, has retired.

As friends, family and work colleagues gathered yesterday afternoon in the Ministry of Home Affairs Conference Room to pay tribute to one of their own, the DPS, known for her quiet manner, was lauded for her outstanding contribution to the civil service.

Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, in commending Mrs. Cumberbatch praised her pleasant and helpful demeanor, while noting that she was always "reliable and dependable."

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lucene Wharton-Isaac, echoed the Minister’s sentiments, saying she was an industrious and dedicated worker, was a consummate professional, and helped to shape the careers of her colleagues and juniors.

Mrs. Cumberbatch joined the service in October 1972 as a Clerical Officer at the Inland Revenue Department.
