Chief Fire Officer, Wilfred Marshall (FP)

Officers of the Barbados Fire Service (BFS) will get ???fired up’ next week, when that department hosts its annual week of activities, beginning on September 30 and running until October 6.

The week will begin with divine worship on Sunday, September 30 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, The City at 9:00 a.m.?? Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, will deliver brief remarks, and Chief Fire Officer, Wilfred Marshall, will give the feature address.

On Monday, October 1, the public is invited to a Health Extravaganza at the Fire Service’s Probyn Street headquarters, starting at 10:00 a.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to have a number of tests, including prostates specific antigen (PSA), HIV and blood pressure. There will also be facials, perfume sampling, manicures and pedicures.????????????

The following day, Tuesday, October 2, the Arch Hall Fire Station will hold its Northern Division Day of activities at its St. Thomas location.?? Members of the business community, neighbouring schools and the general public are encouraged to participate. Persons may also view the drill displays by members of the Northern Division, which comprises the Arch Hall, St. James and St. John Fire Stations. It will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Later that day, there will be a Fire Service Governmental Quiz at Probyn Street Headquarters, beginning at 7:30 p.m.?? Members of the public are invited.

The Barbados Fire Service Association’s Membership Day will be the focus on Wednesday, October 3, at the Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, beginning at 10:00 a.m.????

Farley Hill National Park, St. Peter will be the venue when the department hosts its Sports and Social Club Fun Day on Thursday, October 4, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The next day, Friday, October 5, a parade and awards ceremony will take place at the Arch Hall Fire Station, Arch Hall, St. Thomas, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

The activities will culminate on Saturday, October 6, with a family fun fair, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Fire Service headquarters.?? There will be attractions such as face painting and a lucky dip.?? The public is invited.
