The Environmental Health Division of the Ministry of Health has taken a number of steps to minimise the prevalence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in Barbados.

One of the approaches taken has been to add Poecila reticulata, (Guppies), to the water courses across the island to feed on the mosquito larvae.

According to the Ministry, some persons have been taking fish from the water courses.?? As a consequence, the Environmental Health Division has strongly advised persons to refrain from removing the fish from the designated areas as it may lessen the chance of fighting the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.
