This week fisher folk at Oistins Fishing Complex in Christ Church will be staging a number of events as part of celebrations to mark Fisherman’s Day, which will be observed on Monday, June 29.

Among the activities planned, will be a ???soak down’, treasure hunt, and a fun and games evening, which will take place on Friday, June 26, throughout the day at the Fish Market.

The next day, Saturday, June 27, interested persons can participate in a fish-atha-lon and karaoke from 9:00 a.m.??

According to a member of the organising committee: "The fish-atha-lon will be a race from the beach in front of Lexie’s bar and restaurant, around the pump house of the jetty.??

Swimmers will then climb up on the west side of the jetty, run from the jetty to the fish stalls where they will bone and scale five flying fish, then run back towards the jetty; dive into the water and swim back towards the finish line.?? All participants must be good swimmers."

The proceedings will culminate on Monday, June 29 – Fisherman’s Day, with a Float &T-shirt parade, followed by a Customer Appreciation Day.

The parade will commence from Harvest Mart Complex to the Supercentre Supermarket and back to the Fish Market.

Persons are asked to assemble in the Harvest Mart car park by 8:00 a.m. The parade will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.?? All are invited to attend.
