The Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management has postponed the planned series of national consultations for fisherfolk on the Draft Sub-Regional Fisheries Resource Management Plan for Eastern Caribbean Flying Fish for the 2013-2014 season.

Acting Chief Fisheries Officer, Joyce Leslie, said new dates would be announced at a later time. The consultations were to be held to update fishers, boat owners, vendors, processors and other stakeholders on the contents of the plan in an effort to obtain important feedback from them and make any necessary adjustments, obtain acceptance and prepare for its implementation.

The plan has been developed by the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism and the Food and Agriculture Organisation’s Western Central Atlantic Fisheries Commission Joint Working Group on flying fish resources.
