Faced with increased cases of obesity and chronic diseases among Barbadians, the ANNU Institute for Health and Human Development, in collaboration with the Community Development Department (CDD), will be hosting a number of free fitness and nutrition courses for the public.

The classes are designed to raise the public’s awareness about the dangers of cardiovascular disease and stress, and how they can be prevented through diet and exercise.

The sessions began on September 13, and are being held on Mondays, at the Bayville Community Centre, Bayville, St. Michael, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.; on Wednesdays, at the Ellerton Community Centre, Ellerton, St. George, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursdays at the Speightstown Resource Centre, Speightstown, St. Peter, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The programme will also be held on Fridays at the Oistins Community Centre, Oistins, Christ Church from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and at the Waterford Community Centre, Waterford, St. Michael, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

Interested persons may also register at the Community Centres where the classes are being held or by contacting the ANNU Institite, at 435-2668. The deadline for registration is Monday, September 21.
