A flood warning has been issued for Barbados from 3:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 22.

This comes as a low to mid-level shear-line feature has been producing some pockets of moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms across the island over the past few hours. Rainfall accumulations of one to two inches (25 to 50 mm) have already been recorded in some parts of the island, and further accumulations of one to two inches are likely tonight into tomorrow.

As a consequence, a flood warning has been issued for Barbados and will remain in effect until 10:00 a.m., tomorrow, Thursday, August 23. A flood warning means that flooding is already occurring or is imminent.

Residents in flood-prone areas should remain on the alert and take the necessary precautions.
