This year’s Independence celebrations will be centered mainly on the youth.

Minister of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, during a press briefing at Parliament yesterday, disclosed that the National Independence Service, which will be held at Independence Square on Sunday, November 28, will begin with a youth procession, commencing at Jubilee Gardens in the City, at 3:00 p.m.

The procession will travel along Broad Street, across Charles Duncan O’neal Bridge and onto Independence Square, where the service will then begin at 4:00 p.m. Approximately 500 young persons from various sporting organisations, service associations, marching and non-marching bands, are expected to participate in the march.

The incorporation of the youth in this event is to mark the International Year of the Youth which is currently being observed.??sharifa.medford@barbados.gov.bb
