As part of ongoing efforts to reduce the presence of the aedes aegypti mosquito, the Ministry of Health’s Vector Control Unit will fog a number of districts around the island next week.

Fogging operations will begin in St. Philip on Monday, September 3, when the team visits Kirtons, Kirtons 1, 2 and 3, Cave Land, Hope Land, Rices Gardens, Friendship Drive, Tranquility Drive, Crane Lodge, Colleton Drive, Pounders Land, Diamond Valley and the surrounding areas.

On Tuesday, September 4, a number of districts in St. Thomas will be sprayed.????These are: Redmans Village, Bagatelle Gardens, Kew Land, Welches, Welches Terrace, Padmore Village, Melrose and the environs.??????

St. James and St. Thomas will be treated on Wednesday, September 5.?? The districts to be targeted are:?? Hoytes Village, Hoytes Development, Bagatelle Terrace, Bennetts Tenantry and Arch Hall.

The following day, Thursday, September 6, the team will move to St. Thomas and St. Andrew, including the districts of Rock Hall, Content, Porey Spring, Rock Hall Development, Spring Farm, Farmers, Dunscombe, Canefield, Hillaby, Church Gap, Turners Hall, Mose Bottom, White Hall, Airy Cot and Gregg Farm.??

Fogging will culminate in the north of the island on Friday, September 7, with Maycocks Road, Maycocks Terrace, Broomefield, Husbands, Friendly Hall, Harrisons, Crab Hill, Grape Hill, Salmonds, Greenidges, Cluffs and St. Swithins, all in St.Lucy, being fogged.????

The Vector Control Unit will begin fogging at 4:30 and end at 7:30 p.m. each day.?? Householders are asked to assist in the elimination of the deadly aedes aegypti mosquito by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate.?? Persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog, while pedestrians and motorists must proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street.

In addition, parents are advised to prohibit their children from playing in the fog or running behind the fogging machine.??
