Aedes aegypti, the principal??mosquito??vector of dengue viruses, will again be targeted when the Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health fogs a number of areas across the island, next week.

Fogging will be carried out in the parishes of St. Lucy, St. Philip and St. Michael, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day.

On Monday, August 20, fogging will take place in St. Lucy in the districts of Josey Hill, Mount Gay Tenantry, Pickerings, Durhams, Jemmotts Cottage, Chance Hall, Glendalough, Mount View, Rockhall, Oxford, Church Hill, Peteres, Church Hill Drive, Lowlands and the environs.

The following day, Tuesday, August 21, the team will spray Long Bay, Long Bay Development, Belair, Belair Cross Road, Crane and Crane Development in St. Philip.????

On Wednesday, August 22, the Unit will move to Kirtons, Cave Lane, Hope Land, Rices Garden, Friendship Drive, Tranquility Drive, Crane Lodge, Colleton Drive, Pounders Land and Diamond Valley, also in St. Philip.??

Parkinson Field, Factory Avenue, Bottom Close, Pinelands, Golden Rock, Phillip’s Road and the surrounding areas in St. Michael will be fogged on Thursday, August 23.??

Fogging for the week will culminate in St. Michael on Friday, August 24, with the districts of??Barclays Park, Wildey, Wildey Industrial Park, Meadow Road North, South Meadow 1st – 6th Ave, North Meadow, Rock Close, Rock Close Avenue, East Terrace, Wildey Gardens and the environs, being sprayed.????

Pedestrians and motorists should proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street, and parents should prevent their children from playing in the fog or from running behind the fogging machine.?? In addition, persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog.?? Householders are urged to help in the elimination of the aedes aegypti mosquito by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to circulate.
