As part of ongoing efforts to reduce the presence of the deadly aedes aegypti mosquito, the Ministry of Health, through the Vector Control Unit, will continue the fogging of a number of districts across the island next week.
On Monday, February 4, the team will visit the Christ Church districts of Harts Gap with Avenues, St. Matthias Road, Pleasant Hall, Marine Gardens, September Square, Rockley Main Road with Avenues, Dayrells Road, Hastings Main Road, Balmoral Gap, Halls Gap, Hood Road, Village Road, Brownes Gap, Coconut Walk, Nelson Road, Exeter Road, York Road, Navy Gardens and Pavilion Court.
The next day, Tuesday, February 5, fogging operations will remain in that parish and the districts of Graeme Hall Park, Maxwell Hill, Kendal Hill, Briar Hall, Kendal Hill Park, Silver Hill Landing Scheme, Silver Hill Housing Area, Silver Hill and the surrounding areas will be fogged.
Efforts to eliminate the mosquito will continue on Wednesday, February 6, in St. Thomas. The targetted areas will be: Edgehill, Shop Hill, Grand View, Vaucluse, Reece Road, Cane Garden, Bridgefield and other nearby districts.
Grazettes, Grazettes Housing Area, Grazettes Landing Scheme, Long Gap, Piedmont Park, Spooners Hill, Thompson Gap, Whitehall Main Road, Bridge Gap, St. Stephen’s Hill, Cave Hill Housing Area, Philips Land and Grazettes New Road in St. Michael will be sprayed on Thursday, February 7.
The team will remain in that parish on Friday, February 8, to treat Green Hill (North and South), Friendship Drive, Mahaica Gap, Lewis Gap, Storey Gap, Lodge Terrace and the adjoining areas.
Fogging will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day, and householders are asked to assist by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate.?? However, persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog, while pedestrians and motorists should be cautious when encountering fogging operations on the street.
In addition, parents are urged to prohibit their children from playing in the fog or running behind the fogging machine.
