As part of its ongoing efforts to control and reduce the presence of the deadly aedes aegypti mosquito, the Ministry of Health’s Vector Control Unit will fog a number of districts throughout the island next week.

On Monday, February 13, the team will visit Christ Church, where Sargeants Village, Regency Park, Sheraton Park, Elizabeth Park, Warners Terrace, Briar Hall and the surrounding areas will be fogged.

The next day, Tuesday, February 14, fogging will move to St. James, with West Terrace 1st – 16th Avenues, West Terrace Road, Husbands Heights, Husbands Gardens, Wanstead Avenues – 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th & 9th, Oxnards and the neighbouring districts scheduled to be fogged.

Efforts to eliminate the aedes aegypti mosquito will continue on Wednesday, February 15, in St Peter, when Black Bess, Bakers, Bakers Woods, Sion Hill, Rock Dundo, Upper Carlton, Rock Hall and environs will be fogged.

Fogging moves to some districts in St. Michael on Thursday, February 16, and Hinds Hill, Husbands New Development, Airlie Tenantry, West Road, Lodge Hill, Clermont, Clerpark, Reservoir Road and environs are listed to be fogged.

The team will remain in St. Michael on Friday, February 17. This time, Barbarees Hill, Westbury Road, Brewsters Road, Richmond Gap, President Kennedy Drive, St. Leonards Avenue, Fontabelle, Kensington New Road, Lakes Folly, Chapman Lane, Emmerton Lane, Reed Street, Mason Hall Street, Baxters Road, Spencers Gap, Rock Gap, Wharton Gap, Marshalls Gap with all avenues and environs will be targeted.

Fogging will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. each day and householders are asked to assist in the elimination of the deadly aedes aegypti mosquito by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate.

Persons with respiratory problems should protect themselves from inhaling the fog, while pedestrians and motorists must proceed with caution when encountering fogging operations on the street.

Parents are advised to prohibit their children from playing in the fog or running behind the fogging machine.
